The NGHS Allstar Band

60 Nottingham girls (Y4-Y6) have recorded their Christmas songs and a CD will be released on 5th December!

This is my first mix and preview of the NGHS Allstar Band's christmas single "Snowballed". The project took 2 weeks to record and features over 60 girls aged 8-11. I'm extremely proud of the output. Buy it from amazon from 5th December 2011.

Paul Stayner, who created our logo, has designed this cd cover.  It's very Christmas!  All the proceeds from the sale of the cd will go to Ganbare Japan to give direct support to the children in the area affected by 3.11 Tsunami. 

英国ノッティンガム・ガールズ・ハイスクールの６０人の生徒たちが、クリスマスの歌を録音しました。CDになって１２月５日に発売されます。この売り上げをすべてがんばれジャパンに寄付してくれることになりました。CDカバーは、がんばれジャパンのロゴを作ってくれたポール・ステイナー氏によるものです。音楽の教鞭をとっているマーク・ロルフ氏が作曲と作詞をしたとってもクリスマスチックな曲です。

Joint exhibition with Thinking of Homeland

「祖国を想う」 Thinking of Homelandとがんばれジャパンのジョイント展示会が１２月の初めからビーストンで催されます。ビーストンのセンスベリースーパーマーケットのすぐ近くにある’bean’というカフェのスペースを借りて行われます。オーナーのアレックスさんのご配慮で場所を提供していただけることになりました。

 写真にあるアートワークやイギリスと日本の子供たちの手紙やイギリス人のフォトジャーナリスト　ロバート・ギルフーリー氏の写真が展示されます。　アートワークは、イギリス、フランス、ドイツ、アメリカなど海外に住む日本人のアーティスト２０名による作品です。今その準備に大わらわです。

ここを皮切りに、イギリス全国を回る大きな計画を持っています。　現在、支援金を求めて奔走中です。このフレームのアートワークは、２５ポンドで販売中です。下のサイトから購入できます。　クリスマスのプレゼントにぜひ！

We are planning to have a small exhibition at cafe in Beeston called 'bean' near Sainsbury's supermarket, which, many people agree, offers the best coffee in Nottingham (or in UK!).  Alex, the owner, has kindly agreed to let us have the space.  The exhibition called 'Thinking of Homeland'.  Another local charity chaired by Kate Ferrucci and Ganbare Japan are jointly organising an event.

There will be the artwork created by 20 Japanese artists who live outside Japan, the letters written by the children in Nottingham and in Japan, and the photos by Robert Gilhooly, a British photojournalist, who lives in Japan and witnessed aftermath of the disaster on 11th March 2011.



We are currently looking for grants and donations for this.  We are hoping to run a roadshow of an exhibition in a larger scale in UK, starting from Nottingham.

Taylor Bunko テイラー文庫

万石浦小学校のテイラー文庫にお邪魔しました。　テイラー文庫は、ALTだったテイラー・アンダーソンの叶えきれなかった夢が託された図書館の中の図書館です。テイラーさんの通っていたアメリカの高校が津波の犠牲になったテイラーさんの意思を継ぐため、たくさんの募金を集め、テイラー文庫の形で石巻の複数の小学校を支援しています。　この日は、小学１年生の子供たちにテイラー文庫の一冊である「Blue berries and Salこけももとサル」という英語の絵本を読んであげることができました。

がんばれジャパンは、テイラー文庫がもっともっと活用してもらえるように、「絵本の読み聞かせ」プロジェクトを行う予定です。この日に行った様な、英語と日本語での読み聞かせをビデオにして、Youtubeビデオにのせて、子供たちがiPadを使ってリンクしてもらう、という計画。うまく起動にのれば、たくさんの子供たちが英語の絵本に気軽に体験できるようになるはず。

We visited the Taylor Bunko (library) at Mangoku-ura Elementary School.  The Taylor Bunko was created for the memory of Miss Taylor Anderson, who lost her life in the 3.11 Tsunami.  She was ALT and loved the children in Ishinomaki.  We had a chance to read one of her favourite books 'Blueberries and Sal' to Year 1 children.  The children were absorbed every single English word and the Japanese translation and slipped into the story.  It was amazing. 

Ganbare Japan is planning to run ' a reading corner' project to make a Youtube video to read the English books with Japanese translation.  The children can use a iPad to see the video clips to enjoy the books, anytime they want.  That will reinforce the usage of the Taylor Bunko and the iPad!

iPad が実践されてます！ iPad in use at classroom!

これが実践の場！　石巻私立貞山小学校の高橋先生は、iPadを限りなく活用しています。算数の授業に、またまた修学旅行の説明会に、運動会の準備にも。貞山小学校では、たくさんの先生がそれぞれの授業に使いたく、取り合いになっている話を聞き、2台目の寄贈をしました。小さなWifiルーターを駆使してのインターネットをうまく取り込んだ授業は、これからどんどん増えて欲しいインターアクティブな授業の方法です。　この写真にある大きなテレビは、教育委員会から石巻の小学校一校に一台づつ渡されています。これを大活用！

もっとたくさんの子供たちにこの経験をしてもらいたい！

アップルストア仙台一番町が、近い将来石巻の先生たちにiPadのトレーニングコースを開いてくれることになりました。iPadを使いこなす先生たちがもっともっと増えて欲しいですね。

Here is how the iPad is being used at classroom.  Suzuki-sensei (teacher) has become an expert in using an iPad for his class.  At this school Teizan Elementary School, the iPad given by Ganbare Japan has started playing an important role to make a classroom teaching more interactive.  The second iPad has been given to the school, as one was not enough!  The TV in the photo was a very common equipment at ES in Ishinomaki-city.  The city's education authority has given one big monitor TV per school.  This is a great example of what the TV can do and must do!

We are hoping that more children will see what an up-to-date and cutting edge technology can do and have an amazing experience with it.  Inspiration should become contagious!

Apple store Sendai Ichibancho has kindly agreed to provide the teachers in Ishinomaki a support by running a training course 'how to use iPad'.  How wonderful!

iPadの輪がまた広がった！Circle of iPds has extended!

９月おわりに石巻にある万石浦小学校の相澤校長先生にiPadを寄贈しました。ここでまたたくさんの子供たちが最新のテクノロジーを体験し、驚いたり、感心したり、楽しんだり、たくさんの未知の経験ができたら、それで良しです。子供たちだけでなく、先生たちにいろいろな刺激をあたえることができたら、もっといい！　まだがんばるぞ。

We visited Ishinomaki-city at the end of September. This is one of the schools of our visits.  We donated a iPad to Mangoku-ura Elementary School.  This is Aizawa Principal.  He has been very busy linking with many parts of the world: USA, France and UK.  He and his staff at the school make the best of all the supports given from all over the world.
