祖国を想う 'Thinking of Homeland'

Our first exhibition has opened.  Sasakawa Foundation is supporting us organise this event. The cafe 'bean' is now showing photos, artworks (above) and the letters written by the children in Nottingham and in Sendai, Japan.  The exhibition has been organised by two charities in Nottingham: 'Thinking of Homeland' and 'Ganbare Japan'.  The artworks (above) were made by 25 Japanese artists, who live away from home to raise money for affected areas by Tsunami.   This is our first exhibition and we are planning to open many more in different cities.  

He is Alex, the owner of the cafe, who has kindly agreed to let us use the space.  
It's the best cafe in Nottingham or perhaps in the UK!

クリスマスもそこまで来ています。イギリスは、１２月に入って急に寒くなりました。
スコットランドは、先週雪と風で学校が閉鎖になったぐらい。日本の東北地方も寒くなっているのでしょうね。

アメリカのAndy Anderson氏（故テイラーアンダーソンさんのお父様）から、ビデオクリップが届きました。

テイラー文庫 Taylor Bunko

１１月に、これまでのTaylor Anderson Memorial Fundの活動を通して、被災地への支援を続けているアンダーソン氏にアメリカの日本商工会議所からLuminous Individual Awardが贈られました。

以下は、JETAA USA のサイトより抜粋しました。

The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of NYposthumously awarded Taylor Anderson, US JET who lost her life on 3.11, their Luminary Individual Award at their annual dinner last month (November 2011). The Luminous Individual Award was imparted to Taylor in recognition of furthering the relationship between Japan and the U.S. through her inspirational spirit and heroic sacrifice. A contribution of $50,000 was made to the Taylor Anderson Memorial Fund.

Japanese Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Karino, had a short film (embedded below) made for the event. The film features Taylor and her students’ reflections on her as a teacher as well as a message of thanks from the people of Tohoku in the Ishinomaki area. Taylor’s students are standing in front of a Taylor Anderson Reading Corner (Taylor Bunko) in the film.

All delegates (including JETAA USA CRs) who attended the JETAA International Conference this past October in Tokyo, brought one of their favorite children’s books to donate to the Taylor Anderson Reading Corners in the Ishinomaki schools. JETAA USA, in a show of solidarity for their fellow JET, also donated a small portion ($5000) of the JETAA USA Earthquake Fund to the Taylor Anderson Memorial Fund.
