いよいよiPadが明日日本に向けてイギリスを出発します。来週の初めに石巻市立貞山小学校と青葉中学校に届きます。 以下はiPadの中身について書かれた手紙です。

Welcome! This iPad was donated by the Ganbare Japan, UK-Japan Tsunami School Fund, which is a charity based in Nottingham, UK.
ようこそ。このiPadは英国のチャリティー「がんばれジャパン」から寄付されております。
Our aim is to help schoolchildren in the tsunami-affected area in Japan. So we have raised money by running Japanese cultural events in Nottingham and the East Midlands in UK, and have used it to buy iPads for donation to schools. We want to help the schoolchildren in 2 ways:
チャリティの目的は、2011年3月11日の津波で被害にあった学校の子供たちに勇気と希望を与えることです。イギリス東中部地方にあるノッティンガムを中心に、日本の文化を伝えるイベントを通してお金を集め、iPadを購入し学校に寄付するプロジェクトを始めました。
iPadを通して、2通りの方法で学校の子供たちをサポートしていきます。
Firstly we want to give an iPad to their teacher, who can then use some English-Learning apps to make English lessons even more stimulating and effective. So we have pre-loaded this iPad with the best free English learning apps currently in the world market for you to use in English Language classes.
1番目に、学校の英語学習をより楽しくするために、先生にiPad をお届けします。世界中の英語学習に使われている無料アプリケーションの中から、一番人気が高く、日本人に最適なものを選びiPadにダウンロードしました。
And secondly, we want to inspire children by the direct connection between the UK and Japan. So we have included illustrated heart-felt letters written in English by British schoolchildren and then translated into Japanese by the Nottingham Japanese community. To give another sense of our British culture, we have also included photos of the Nottingham area, taken by Michael Parker, a talented local photographer. We hope you will show these to your classes. The iPad is also an easy way for schools in Japan and UK to communicate with each other. You can record video messages with the camera and email them directly from the iPad to us at Ganbare Japan and we will pass onto a suitable school in Nottingham.
2番目に、イギリスノッティンガムの子供たちからの心温まるお手紙を読んでもらい、子供たちの元気の素になってもらえるように、たくさんの手紙をダウンロードしてあります。手紙はノッティンガム周辺の日本人によって翻訳されています。また、ノッティンガム在住の写真家マイケル・パーカー氏によって取られた写真集も入っています。イギリスの文化を垣間見ることができます。
iPadはイギリスにいる子供たちとのコミュニケーションにも使うことができます。 iPadにはカメラがついています。ビデオや写真を簡単にとることができ、Eメール機能を使ってすぐに相手先に送信することができます。がんばれジャパンに送ってもらえれば、イギリスの学校に転送いたします。 日本語でのメッセージでも大丈夫。 こちらで翻訳します。

iPadの使い方。
On the home screen when you open your iPad are 7 icons which we think you will find useful:
iPadを開けてください。 7つのアイコンが見えますか。
· iBooks: this has the illustrated letters from the Nottingham schoolchildren from 5 different schools, which have been translated into Japanese. It also has a document with a slideshow of the beautiful Nottingham photos from our photographer.
iBooks (アイブックス)には、イギリスの5つの学校からの子供たちの手紙とノッティンガム周辺で撮影された’春夏秋冬’の写真のスライドショーが入っています。
· Notes: has a copy of these instructions so you will always find them.
Notes (ノート)には、「使い方」を書いた文書が入っています。
· Contacts: has the contact details for Ganbare Japan charity
Contacts (コンタクト連絡先)には、がんばれジャパンへの連絡先の詳細が入っています。
· Learning English: This has 8 interactive English learning apps.
英語学習 ―8つの英語学習に使うことができるアプリケーションが入っています。
Singing English songs: This has 3 'English language karaoke for children' apps which will help your pupils sing simple, fun English children's songs in class.
英語の歌 ― 3つの英語の歌のカラオケのアプリケーションが入っています。シンプルで、簡単に、楽しく歌える歌がたくさんあります。 みんなで歌ってください。
· Talking books: This has 4 apps of interactive talking books. A very good one is called Santa Lite, which is a Christmas story, where the words are highlighted as they are spoken. You can tap on any word to hear it spoken again so you can practise speaking it outloud.
読み聞かせの本 ― 3冊の読み聞かせてくれる本（トーキングブック）が入っています。その中でも‘サンタライト’というクリスマスのお話は絶妙です。お話しされている言葉がハイライトで示されています。 言葉をタッチすると、発音してくれ、英語のスピーキングの練習ができます。
· Reading books: This has 3 apps which are books for reading; Shakespeare, Alice in Wonderland and Grimm's Fairy Tales. Since these are quite advanced, they are probably best used to keep your own English up to date.
読む本 ― 3つのアプリケーションが入っています。 シェークスピア、不思議の国のアリス、グリム童話です。 すこし上級なので、先生たちの英語の勉強に使ってくださいね。
