がんばれジャパンのボランティア達
Volunteers for Ganbare Japan
先週末久しぶりにファンド・レイジングのイベントに参加しました。わたしたちにとって今回で4回目のこのイベントは、ビーガン・フェスティバル(肉、魚、乳製品を一切食べない人達）で日本食はいつも大人気です。
新しいボランティアのダグさん(後左）も来てくださいました。ダグさんは、最近日本からイギリスに戻ってきました。日本にいた時は、仙台の学校で英語を教えていました。10月からノッティンガム大学で心理学を学ぶそうです。日本語も達者でこれから私たちの活動をお手伝いしてくださるとのこと。頼もしいです。
漫画家ポールさん(後右：がんばれジャパンのロゴのデザイナー）は、今年も折り紙を担当してくれました。ポールさんの作るキツネは子ども達にとても人気があります。
女性陣は、お寿司とおにぎりを作りながら売りさばきました。今年は12時から3時までの3時間で350個の細巻き、50個のおにぎり、25個のお弁当を売り切りました。
たくさんの人達に「おいしい」「レストランは持ってるの」とまで言われ、作り手にとっては、うれしい限りでした。食べ物が売れつきたあとは、書道家の晶子さんがしおりに名前を漢字で書いてあげたり、子ども達と一緒に兜をつくったり、日本の文化をイギリスの人達と楽しみました。
来てくださったお客様に笑顔で「ありがとう」と言うと「ありがとう」と返ってきたのがとてもうれしかったですね。また来年もがんばりましょうとお互いをねぎらっての一日でした。
We participated in Green Festival in Nottingham, UK last
weekend. It was our fourth time doing
fund raising at this vegan festival. We
booked a good weather and it turned out just a way we would like!
We've just had a new volunteer, Douglas, who was a JET
teacher in Sendai and returned to the UK to study Psychology at University of
Nottingham. He speaks very good Japanese and will be a great help for
future events.
Paul, who designed our beautiful logo, did an origami
workshop again. His origami fox is always very popular among children.
We, ladies, made sushi, onigiri and bento box at sight
and sold everything we made: 350 pieces of sushi, 50 onigiri (rice balls) and
25 bento box! Our customers loved our food and asked us if we have a restaurant
! We greeted them with 'Arigato' and they responded with saying 'Arigato' too!
After everything was sold out, Akiko, our calligraphy
Master, made book marks with names in Kanji (Chinese symbols). We also had a
workshop to make a samurai hat with visitors.
It was a fabulous day for us. We agreed to come back next
year again!
